North Carolina H766 provides funding to the Department of Health and Human Services to expand Teen Mental Health First Aid training. This training, aimed at teens in grades nine through twelve, teaches them to identify and respond to mental health and substance use challenges among peers. The curriculum includes recognizing signs and symptoms and connecting teens with adults for support. The funding will support the expansion of this program, which has already trained 1,519 teens and established a cohort of 68 instructors. The act becomes effective July 1, 2025.
