Pharmacists/Test and Treat

Introduced·4/2/25

Allows pharmacists to test and treat certain illnesses and ensures fair reimbursement for pharmacist services.

This bill allows pharmacists to test and treat certain illnesses, including influenza and COVID-19, using CLIA-waived tests. It also ensures that health benefit plans cover services provided by pharmacists within their licensed scope of practice. Additionally, it mandates that insurers offer the same coverage for pharmacist services as they do for other healthcare providers and prohibits insurers from penalizing insureds for out-of-network services provided by pharmacists. The bill also appropriates funds to the Department of Insurance.
