Mental Health Crisis Unit Pilot for LSAUs

Establishes a pilot program to fund mental health crisis units in selected North Carolina school districts.

The bill establishes the Mental Health Crisis Unit Pilot Program to provide funds for local school administrative units to establish mental health crisis units. Selected units will receive $250,000 annually for three years to establish and maintain these units. The units will provide mental health resources and rapid response to emergencies. The Department of Public Instruction will set standards and guidelines for these units, which must include a school nurse, a school social worker, and a licensed mental health counselor or social worker.
