Allows Hertford County Schools to align their school calendar with Roanoke-Chowan Community College.

This bill allows Hertford County Schools to adjust their school calendar to align with the calendar of Roanoke-Chowan Community College. It permits the local board of education to set an earlier opening date and a later closing date for students, provided there is good cause. The bill defines good cause as schools in the county being closed eight days per year during any four of the last 10 years due to severe weather, energy shortages, or other emergencies. This act applies specifically to Hertford County Schools and becomes effective starting with the 2025-2026 school year.
