Military and Veterans Educational Promise Act allows military personnel to defer admission and provides in-state tuition for honorably discharged.

The Military and Veterans Educational Promise Act mandates that constituent institutions of The University of North Carolina cannot deny admission to applicants intending to serve in the uniformed service. It also requires these institutions to adopt a policy allowing eligible applicants to defer admission. This deferment applies to members of the reserve Armed Forces for at least two years and to other eligible applicants for at least five years.
