North Carolina H544 creates a tax credit for rehabilitation of historic corporate campuses.

North Carolina H544 introduces a tax credit for taxpayers who incur at least $10 million in qualified rehabilitation expenditures on historic corporate campuses. To qualify, the campus must be a certified historic structure, previously served as a corporate headquarters, occupy at least 20 acres, be subject to a preservation agreement, and have been at least 80% vacant for two years. The credit is equal to 40% of the qualified expenditures and applies to expenditures incurred after January 1, 2026. The credit can be claimed in phases if the campus is placed into service in multiple years.
