North Carolina H51 provides flexibility to Caswell County, Chapel Hill-Carrboro City, and Orange County Schools in adopting their school calendars.

North Carolina H51 allows local boards of education in Caswell County, Chapel Hill-Carrboro City, and Orange County Schools to align their school calendars with community colleges. It permits these schools to start their calendar on the same day as the college or any day thereafter. The bill also allows these schools to administer assessments before the fall semester ends and provides flexibility in setting opening and closing dates for schools. This act is effective starting with the 2025-2026 school year.
