North Carolina ratifies the Equal Rights Amendment as the 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

The bill ratifies the Equal Rights Amendment, affirming that equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged on account of sex. It directs the Governor to forward a certified copy of the act to the Archivist of the United States and congressional leaders. The amendment, ratified by three-fourths of the states, became part of the Constitution on January 27, 2020. The act is effective two years after its ratification.
