North Carolina H50 establishes an additional special separation allowance for state and local law enforcement officers who have completed at least 30 years of creditable service. The allowance is calculated based on the officer's years of service and is paid in equal installments. To qualify, officers must have completed 30 or more years of creditable service or be at least 55 years old with five or more years of creditable service, and not have attained 62 years of age. The allowance continues until the officer's death or until they reach 62 years of age, whichever comes first.
