The North Carolina Paid Family Leave Insurance Act establishes a program allowing eligible employees to take paid leave for family and medical reasons. Employers must provide written notice to employees about their rights and the terms of the program. The program allows for up to 18 weeks of paid leave for general family and medical reasons, 12 weeks for the birth or adoption of a child, and 26 weeks for caring for a covered service member with a serious injury or illness. Employers must restore employees to their previous position or an equivalent one upon return from leave.
