Military to Teacher Ret. Incentive provides service credit for teachers with prior military service.
North Carolina H498 provides service credit under the Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System for individuals who served in the Armed Forces of the United States and subsequently became teachers. Eligible teachers must not have been dishonorably discharged and must have returned to teaching within two years of their military discharge. The amount of creditable service is equal to the length of the member's active duty service in the uniformed services, up to a maximum of four years. For periods exceeding four years, a member may purchase additional credit.
