Allow Lottery Winners to be Confidential

Allows lottery winners to keep their identifying information confidential for 90 days after claiming a prize of $50 million or more.

North Carolina H401 establishes that the identifying information of lottery winners who claim a prize of $50 million or more can be treated as confidential for 90 days after the prize is claimed. This confidentiality applies unless required for tax compliance or legal obligations. The bill also allows winners to maintain confidentiality if they have a protective order or are in the Address Confidentiality Program. This act becomes effective July 1, 2025.
