The report must include the firearm's caliber, make, model, manufacturer, serial number, and any other distinguishing marks, along with the circumstances of the loss or theft. A violation of this reporting requirement is a Class 3 misdemeanor, escalating to a Class I felony for subsequent violations. The act becomes effective December 1, 2025.
