Nash County occupancy tax changes to promote tourism and set distribution rules.
This bill modifies the Nash County occupancy tax, allowing the Nash County Board of Commissioners to levy a room occupancy tax of up to three percent of gross receipts from rentals. It establishes a Tourism Development Authority to promote travel and tourism, spending at least two-thirds of the funds on tourism promotion and the remainder on tourism-related expenditures. The City of Rocky Mount can only use its remitted funds for tourism-related expenditures approved by the Nash County Tourism Development Authority.
