Legislative Building Field Trip Pilot Program

Establishes a pilot program for public school field trips to the Legislative Building to encourage civic engagement.

The Legislative Building Field Trip Pilot Program provides funding for public school units to conduct one field trip per school year to tour the Legislative Building. The Department of Public Instruction will develop application criteria and guidelines, with applications due by August 1 each year. Selections will be prioritized for tier 1 counties, and awards will be up to $2,000 per school. Funds can only be used for transportation expenses. The Department must report annually to the Joint Legislative Education Oversight Committee.
