Liam's Law increases penalties for reckless driving or street racing that causes serious injury or death, and for hit-and-run offenses that result in death. It mandates that drivers involved in crashes must stop and provide information to other parties, and remain at the scene unless it is unsafe to do so. Penalties for reckless driving causing serious injury are increased to a Class 1 misdemeanor, while causing death results in a Class F felony. Penalties for hit-and-run offenses resulting in death are increased to a Class D felony.
