This bill proposes a constitutional amendment to repeal the recognition of marriage between one man and one woman as the only valid domestic legal union in North Carolina. It allows private parties to enter into contracts and courts to adjudicate rights based on those contracts. The amendment will be submitted to voters in the November 2026 general election. If approved, it will take effect on January 1, 2027.
