North Carolina H167 prohibits leaving firearms in unattended vehicles unless locked and safely stored.

North Carolina H167 makes it unlawful to leave a firearm in an unattended motor vehicle unless the vehicle is locked and the firearm is either secured with a trigger lock or other safety device or in a locked container. Violators face a Class 2 misdemeanor penalty. The law applies to offenses committed on or after December 1, 2025.
