North Carolina bill prohibits misbranded and cell-cultured meat products and establishes an environmental assessment on meat, poultry, egg, and dairy.

The bill amends North Carolina statutes to prohibit misbranding of meat and poultry products and cell-cultured products. It requires labeling of manufactured-protein products and prohibits community colleges, public universities, and public schools from purchasing misbranded or cell-cultured products. The bill also establishes an environmental investment assessment on certain meat, poultry, egg, and dairy products and analogue products. The assessment proceeds will be used for environmental improvement projects on farms. The bill becomes effective October 1, 2025.
