North Carolina H1217 revises the Town of Norlina's election schedule and term lengths for its mayor and board of commissioners. Municipal elections will no longer occur in 2027, with the next regular election scheduled for 2028. Starting in 2028, the mayor and two commissioners with the highest votes will serve four-year terms, while the next three highest vote-getters will serve two-year terms. From 2030 onwards, three commissioners will be elected every four years to serve four-year terms. This act applies to elections held on or after its effective date.
