This bill mandates that licensed dentists in North Carolina perform an in-person evaluation for patients before providing orthodontic device services. The evaluation must include an intraoral dental examination, an examination of the patient's head and dental implant or other fixed dental appliance, a review of diagnostic imaging, and a review of the patient's medical and dental health histories. The bill also requires licensed dentists to provide advice and counsel regarding available orthodontic treatment options and associated risks, which must be signed by the patient.
