The Family Support for Those Who Serve Act expands tuition waivers to the children of certain public safety employees for enrollment in North Carolina community colleges. Eligible children include those of law enforcement officers, correctional officers, firefighters, volunteer firefighters, or rescue squad workers. The waiver applies to children aged 17 to 24 years old. The act is effective starting with the 2026-2027 academic year.
