SchCalFlex/Pitt/MorF Aug 10

Introduced·2/13/25

Provides flexibility to Pitt County schools in setting their school calendar dates.

This bill modifies the school calendar rules for Pitt County, allowing local boards of education more flexibility in setting opening and closing dates. Schools in Pitt County can open no earlier than August 10 and close no later than June 11, with exceptions for schools with a modified calendar. The State Board of Education can waive the August 26 opening date requirement if there is good cause, such as severe weather or emergencies. This act applies only to Pitt County and takes effect starting with the 2025-2026 school year.
