Wastewater Design Flow Modifications

Introduced·4/30/26

North Carolina H1156 modifies wastewater design flow rates for permitted wastewater treatment systems.

North Carolina H1156 allows permitted wastewater treatment systems to calculate wastewater flows for new dwelling units at rates lower than 75 gallons per day per bedroom, provided it does not adversely impact public health or the environment. The Department of Environmental Quality must approve these lower rates. The bill also appropriates $10,000 for the Department to review these proposed rates. This act becomes effective July 1, 2026.
