Introduced·4/27/26

Establishes a civil rights helpline within the Department of Justice to receive, document, and investigate civil rights complaints.

The bill establishes a civil rights helpline within the Department of Justice to assist individuals harmed by federal troops or law enforcement officers in North Carolina. The helpline will provide resources and information on accessing local and state assistance programs. It will also maintain a secure database of all reports and generate an annual public report, redacting personally identifiable information. The Attorney General will convene at least one public hearing each year to encourage reporting and provide public notice of each hearing.
