New Mexico SB130 eliminates cost-sharing for generic cholesterol-lowering medications and coronary artery calcium screenings.
New Mexico SB130 mandates that group health plans, excluding small group plans and certain exceptions, cover coronary artery calcium screenings and cholesterol lipid panels for eligible insureds. It prohibits these plans from imposing cost-sharing on generic cholesterol-lowering medications. If generic medications fail to lower cholesterol levels or cause intolerable adverse reactions, cost-sharing is also prohibited for second-line step therapy medications.
