The bill creates a permanent Legislative Health and Human Services Committee to monitor and oversee health and human services programs, agencies, policies, and issues in New Mexico. The committee will have twelve members, six from the House and six from the Senate, appointed to ensure proportional representation of the two major political parties. The chair and vice chair positions alternate between the House and Senate every two years. The committee is empowered to issue subpoenas, administer oaths, and enforce its processes through any district court.
