New Jersey SCR99 proposes a constitutional amendment to increase the annual property tax deduction for qualified veterans and their surviving spouses. Currently, the deduction is $250, but this bill would raise it to $1,250 starting in 2024. The amendment would also extend the $1,250 deduction to the surviving spouse of a veteran after their death. The amendment, if approved by voters, would be submitted at the next general election more than three months after final agreement.
