Lowers property assessments for adding living space for senior relatives to homes.
This bill proposes a constitutional amendment to reduce property assessments for construction or reconstruction of homes to provide living quarters for senior relatives. The senior relative must be at least 62 years old and can be a parent, grandparent, aunt, or uncle of the property owner or their spouse. The reduction cannot exceed the lesser of the increase in assessed value or 20% of the total assessed value of the property. The reduction applies from the first full tax year after voter approval until the death or relocation of the senior relative.
