Proposed constitutional amendment to prohibit eminent domain for active farmland.

This bill proposes a constitutional amendment to prevent state and local governments from using eminent domain to take active farmland for non-farming purposes. Eminent domain allows the government to take private property for public use, provided fair compensation is paid. The amendment would apply to the State, counties, municipalities, school districts, and local public entities. It would allow taking farmland if the property is permanently restricted for farming use. The amendment would be submitted to voters at the next general election.
