Eligible retired law enforcement officers can receive tuition assistance to attend public or proprietary institutions.
This bill allows retired law enforcement officers who retired due to disability to receive tuition assistance for attending public institutions of higher education or proprietary institutions licensed to confer academic degrees. To qualify, the officer must have retired in good standing, have been employed as a full-time law enforcement officer for at least four years, and be enrolled in good standing. The State will reimburse the institution for tuition costs not covered by federal and State student grants and scholarships. This act takes effect immediately.
