New Jersey S921 permits the dismissal of certain motor vehicle violations if the defendant corrects the issue within the allotted time frame and provides acceptable documentation. The bill applies to fineable violations such as equipment failures, expired registrations and licenses, and failure to exhibit required documents. The ticket issued must inform the defendant of the infraction, penalties due, and the right to a hearing. If the defendant corrects the issue and provides documentation, the violation is dismissed. If not, the fine and associated court costs are collected.
