Introduced·1/13/26
Introduced Text

New Jersey S85 amends lobster size limit regulations to apply only to lobsters caught in state marine waters.

New Jersey S85 modifies existing law to ensure that size limits for lobsters apply solely to those taken from the state's marine waters. This change clarifies that any restrictions on lobsters based on size, such as those set for Lobster Management Areas, only pertain to lobsters caught within New Jersey's waters. The Department of Environmental Protection will continue to manage lobster fisheries and issue annual reports on lobster status. This act takes effect immediately.
