The New Jersey Safe Haven for Protection of Domestic Companion Animals Act allows any person to anonymously and voluntarily deliver a domestic companion animal to a shelter, pound, veterinary hospital, or police station. The person delivering the animal is not liable for its care or disposition. The Department of Health must inform all municipalities, shelters, pounds, veterinary hospitals, and police stations about the act's requirements and establish a public education program. Facilities must post signs with operating hours and contact information for other facilities.
