Introduced Text

New Jersey S782 transfers responsibility for the Palisades Interstate Parkway's operations and maintenance to the Department of Transportation.

New Jersey S782 mandates that the Department of Transportation (DOT) take over the operations and maintenance of the Palisades Interstate Parkway, as well as any improvements, but only for portions within New Jersey. Currently, the Palisades Interstate Park Commission holds sole jurisdiction over the parkway. This bill allows for a contract between the commission and DOT, where the commission can perform certain activities with DOT covering the costs. The act will take effect four months after enactment, with DOT and the commission allowed to take preparatory actions beforehand.
