Reduces supervised counseling experience needed for professional counselor licensure in New Jersey.
This bill amends the Professional Counselor Licensing Act to reduce the amount of supervised counseling experience required for licensure. Previously, applicants needed three years of supervised experience, but now they need only two years or 3000 hours. One year of this experience can be completed before obtaining a master's degree. Additionally, applicants can substitute 30 graduate semester hours beyond the master's degree for one year of supervised experience, provided the hours are related to counseling and approved by the Professional Counselor Examiners Committee.
