Introduced·1/9/24
Introduced Text

Allows bereavement leave for miscarriage and stillbirth under New Jersey law.

New Jersey S621 amends the "New Jersey Family Leave Act" to permit employees to take family leave to grieve the loss of a child due to miscarriage or stillbirth. This leave is in addition to other family leave provisions, such as for the birth or placement of a child, serious health conditions of family members, and epidemics of communicable diseases. The leave can be paid, unpaid, or a combination of both, and employers may require certification from a health care provider. The bill also updates definitions and provisions related to family leave and temporary disability benefits.
