Introduced Text

New Jersey S618 amends the process for filling vacancies on boards of education in limited purpose regional school districts.

New Jersey S618 changes the procedure for filling vacancies on boards of education in limited purpose regional school districts. Under the bill, if a vacancy occurs, it will be filled by a majority vote of the board of education of the constituent district represented by the former board member. This change applies to vacancies that would otherwise be filled by a majority vote of the remaining board members. The bill also specifies that the vacancy will be filled at the next annual election if it occurs within a certain timeframe before that election.
