New Jersey S607 makes it a crime to fraudulently pretend to be a transportation network company driver. It is a fourth degree crime if someone falsely pretends to be a driver to obtain a benefit or to injure or defraud another. If the person also exhibits a falsely purported identifying marker or other identification, it escalates to a third degree crime. The penalties include up to 18 months imprisonment, a fine up to $10,000, or both for a fourth degree crime, and three to five years imprisonment, a fine of up to $15,000, or both for a third degree crime.
