New Jersey S525 amends the Truth-in-Consumer Contract, Warranty and Notice Act (TCCWNA) to require aggrieved consumers to have suffered an ascertainable economic loss to commence a class-action lawsuit. For economic losses of $250 or less, consumers must first request reimbursement before taking legal action. This request must be made in writing and sent via certified mail and regular mail. No legal action can be filed until the 35th day following the mailing of the reimbursement request.
