New Jersey S506 requires public school students who sustain a concussion to be evaluated by a physician or other licensed health care provider trained in concussion management before returning to school and engaging in physical activities. The student must receive written clearance from the physician. If the physician identifies restrictions or limitations, the school district's 504 team must implement these immediately and notify all teachers and staff. The team, in consultation with the physician, will determine the duration and adjustments of these restrictions.
