New Jersey Franchised Automobile Industry Retail (FAIR) Sales Act repeals law allowing Tesla and other zero emission vehicle manufacturers to sell.
The New Jersey Franchised Automobile Industry Retail (FAIR) Sales Act repeals the law that allows a manufacturer of zero emission vehicles, including Tesla, to directly buy zero emission vehicles from or sell zero emission vehicles to a consumer. A motor vehicle manufacturer is generally prohibited from selling motor vehicles to a consumer unless the sale is made through a franchisee. However, current statutory law allows a franchisor that exclusively manufactures zero emission vehicles, and meets other criteria, to sell motor vehicles directly to consumers.
