Eliminates presumption of pretrial release for defendants charged with contempt of domestic violence restraining order.

New Jersey S4398 amends the state's bail reform law to eliminate the presumption of pretrial release for defendants charged with contempt of a domestic violence restraining order. The bill adds contempt of a domestic violence restraining order to the list of crimes for which the presumption of pretrial release does not apply. If a defendant is already on pretrial release and is found to have committed contempt of a domestic violence restraining order, the defendant must show, by clear and convincing evidence, why pretrial release should not be revoked.
