Expands residential landlord registration requirements and permitted penalties in New Jersey.
This bill amends current law requiring residential landlords to file a certificate of registration with the clerk of the municipality or the Bureau of Housing Inspection in the Department of Community Affairs. The registration form must include proof of property insurance and the name and contact information of a local property insurance agent employed by the insurer of the property. The bill also requires landlords to certify that they have completed training concerning standards of habitability, residential lead hazards, residential mold hazards, and tenant rights in the State.
