New Jersey S4225 mandates the use of nonlead ammunition for hunting, defined as ammunition containing one percent of lead or less, or approved by the federal government as nonlead. The Fish and Game Council must phase in restrictions on lead ammunition use and establish a list of certified nonlead ammunition. The council must ban lead ammunition use within three years of the bill's effective date. Exemptions apply to law enforcement officials or their agents when performing duties unrelated to wildlife management.
