Introduced·5/11/26
Introduced Text

Clarifies MVC voter registration prompts for certain persons.

The bill amends the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission's voter registration procedures. It prohibits the MVC from prompting non-citizens to register to vote. If a person's identification indicates they are not a U.S. citizen, they will not be prompted to register to vote on the electronic signature pad, and their information will not be transmitted to the Secretary of State. The Secretary of State will transmit voter registration information to the appropriate county commissioner of registration.
