Requires nursing education on inflammatory breast cancer.

Introduced·3/23/26
Introduced Text

New Jersey S4055 mandates nursing education on inflammatory breast cancer.

New Jersey S4055 requires professional nursing programs to include education on inflammatory breast cancer (IBC). IBC is a rare, aggressive form of breast cancer that blocks lymph vessels in the skin, often without causing a lump or showing up on a mammogram. This makes it difficult to diagnose. The curriculum must be developed in consultation with IBC experts. This education aims to improve early detection and treatment, particularly for women under 40, Black women, and those who are overweight, who are more susceptible to IBC. The act will take effect 12 months after its enactment.
