New Jersey S4025 grants independent prescriptive authority to certified nurse midwives.

New Jersey S4025 amends existing law to provide independent prescriptive authority for certified nurse midwives. Under the bill, certified nurse midwives who meet specific qualifications can prescribe drugs without needing standing orders or practice protocols developed in agreement with a collaborative physician. They must still complete 30 hours of pharmacology training, including one credit hour on topics related to prescription opioid drugs.
