Establishes a Restaurant Meals Program in New Jersey to allow SNAP benefits use at approved restaurants for homeless, disabled, or elderly.
This bill establishes a Restaurant Meals Program (RMP) within the New Jersey Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The RMP allows eligible homeless, disabled, or elderly individuals to use their SNAP benefits at approved restaurants that offer food at low or reduced prices. The Department of Human Services will administer the program in conjunction with county welfare agencies. Institutions of higher education in eligible counties must apply to become approved food vendors if they operate qualifying on-campus restaurants.
