Introduced Text

New Jersey S3680 allows municipalities to reduce the population limit for issuing additional alcoholic beverage retail consumption licenses.

New Jersey S3680 allows municipalities to adopt an ordinance to decrease the population limit necessary to issue additional plenary retail consumption licenses. The bill reduces the limit from one license per 3,000 residents to one per 2,000 residents over five years. This change aims to address shortages of such licenses in some municipalities. The population count for determining these limits is based on the most recent U.S. Bureau of the Census estimates, using federal decennial counts when available.
